Response
Let me just say that the response I’ve been getting since opening day has been outstanding! I’m glad that so many of you have been dropping me a line (even the hate mail, which was expected). I’ve truly been swamped at work. The problem isn’t the work load necessarily, but the loose ends that didn’t get tied up when the old regime left. On top of that, I still haven’t gotten my account set up for the classified network and that alone is kicking my butt. Only yesterday did I even have access to the Detachment Commander’s files on the network. Now I can actually get my work done.
But where are the specifics, you may ask? What exactly have you been doing with your time Jayme? I’m sure you’re wondering. Well, settling in isn’t one of those things. I admit to being a bit on the messy side from time to time, but my room is a sty. Depending on which side of the bed I’m going to sleep on that night, I just push all my junk from one side to the other. My two suitcases are still in the middle of the floor, with all my clothes still in them, and my hygiene items are scattered haphazardly all over the bathroom counter. It’s downright shameful. So you, loyal visitor, should be proud that I’ve gotten this far.
As my update continues, it’s been raining like mad here lately. We’re supposedly moving into the dry season but I think it’ll take another month or so. The Company Commander and First Sergeant are making their semi annual command visit to Brasilia the second week of April and our SAI is scheduled a month later in May. This simply means that I’ll be hanging out here until mid May at the earliest. If all goes as planned, I’ll be flying into SoCal, then up through OR and WA for a visit/stay, and on over to ND for the majority of my leave. I have eighteen days. My time is worth money so I’m accepting bribes and bids immediately.
My new AC unit is finally installed. It would have been a good time for the contract workers to rob me blind because I can’t find a thing yet anyways. That’s my mission for the weekend: Operation Organize My Junk.
Oh yeah, before I forget, keep checking back on my site from time to time. At least weekly if at all possible. I may not have new news to report as often as that, but you can bet I’ll be posting more pics and links as I get more organized, knowledgeable, and resources to work on this thing. Every update I’ve done will be conveniently posted on my Home page, so you don’t have to fish through every page to discover new material. If you’ve got pics you want me to post, send ‘em in and I’ll put them up especially for you. It doesn’t take much.
On a family note, I don’t have that many pics at my disposal so it’ll take some time to put up a page or three on them. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Now that I’ve got the brunt of the work done it’s only a matter of tweaking here and there to makes things really snazzy. I’m thinking interactive stuff like polls, countdowns, contests and such. Ideas? I know that my home page visitors thirst for stimulation! They yearn for the challenge of participation! You have called, I have answered.
Stay tuned for something totally unique, totally fresh, and totally hip! Until next time!
