Goin’ up around the bend
Somehow my weekly updates turned into biweekly. This was not my intention but it looks like it may be a necessary evil in the future. Classes officially began 5 June and, until I settle back into the time management portion of college “life,” I’m going to be swamped. I still haven’t received two books and one CD for some of my courses! To make matters worse, the cost per credit hour on the college web page was $7.95 off, so all my tuition assistance stuff I submitted was incorrect. It needs to be rectified by 5 June, when the term begins, and I can feel the clock ticking every second. Sometimes I feel like the world is out to get me. Cripes! This term is going to prove to be very interesting.
As you read in my Newsletter and Updates at a glance, my leave home has been approved and my travel schedule is posted in my calendar. I’ll be seeing everyone in June or July!
This weekend is pretty action packed. Friday we’re hosting a promotion party at the Marine house for one of the Air Force officers, followed by an auction for the American Women’s Association (I think it’s called). The kicker is that Mack, Coleman, and I are getting auctioned off! I’m not sure if that means I’ll be taking out the garbage and doing dishes for a week, but it’s for a good cause so I really can’t complain. Saturday is the Brasilia Hash run and a going away party right afterwards. Sunday is about the only day I’ve got to kick back and chill. I plan on using every second.
My new digital camera has been ordered but is unfortunately back ordered for a couple weeks. I went with the Canon PowerShot A70 after serious deliberation… and no input from any of you punks!
My personal shipment from South Africa is finally here! After a mere three months I discovered that practically everything I packed away to be sent here to Brasilia… was not only not missed, but not needed! The only things I’m happy to have finally gotten is my bike stuff, and just in time for coming home too. It was a Christmas feeling on Wednesday. I got my shipment, some of my school books, and my new Bed-in-a-Bag. I’m walking in tall cotton now!
June through September is going to be a butt kicker as far as standing duty is concerned. In any given day in that four month time frame, we’ll be two Marines short. Jaramillo leaves for his second post a week before I get back from leave, and Ferguson leaves for good the same day I do. We’re not slated for new bodies until September, so I’ve requested two cases of Suck-it-Up from the medical officer and am going to keep my fingers crossed.
Seriously though, I gotta hit the rack. I’ve got guard school at 0730 and it’s 0300 now (and I’m not even on mids!). Enjoy the new look, feel, and navigation of the version 4.0. You can bet the farm there will be more changes and updates to come. If you’ve got ideas then send them my way.
Boa noite!
