Can’t win for losing
I’m on the trembling edge of finalizing the jk.com v5 template. You’ll notice my archives nav bar left aligned with the first journal entry. This frees up more space in the right navigation area and streamlines the template process of which I’m moving forward on. Long live CSS styling! It’s hard to believe that when I first heard of CSS I thought is was something I’d have to go the Pharmacist and buy salve for. Sooo, through a combination of CSS styling and dynamic web template updating, I should be able to make global design changes to my entire site by changing two files. HAHAHAHA! I think I’ve finally broken the code, dangnabbit! Slowly but surely you’ll start seeing all my pages moving over to v5.
My next (semi) big project is creating the interface for my galleries using Adobe Photoshop 7.0. The big problem is I get too wrapped around the axle with minute details. Can you believe I just spent about 7 hours putting the archive navigation in this upper left corner? Me neither. It’s pretty solid code though and I’m proud to say I did it all myself. Don’t laugh! And speaking of code, I’m not responsible for how this looks in Netscape or any other browser than Microsoft Internet Explorer 4+. I suppose you’re thinking to yourself “but Jayme, how can you make such preposterous claims of solid code when I can’t see it properly in [insert your browser name and version here]?” Well, I reply, the thing validates according to W3C standards and that’s all I care about. See the little picture thingy below the chat area and above the counter? That means I’m in baby, Yeah! Okay, so maybe I’m inflating this minor accomplishment but everyone knows how I constantly thirst for outside approval and recognition of family and peers. It’s nothing new, so throw me a bone now and then.
I got the remainder of my school books today for classes which officially fire up on 15 Aug. The kicker? Three classes have mysteriously changed the version of the text books from what I ordered. I’m now in a frantic state of emergency with the RSU bookstore to see what the hell exactly happened here. This, of course, is par for the course with my online learning experience. I just can’t win for losing lately.
Klimas sent me a pretty good email the other day commenting on the discovery of his tribute page. I was going to include it today but it’s on my work email so look for it in the next posting. It’s far funnier than I thought he was capable of writing (no offense). He credits thesaurus.com for his unusual word usage, but cunning wit is something you can’t pull off the net.
Damn, I laughed my butt off. Maybe you had to be there.
Rack time kids.
