Three essential (and free!) apps you need right now

Computers come with a myriad of programs preinstalled, paid for by the software companies who write them. This helps lower the cost of the computer itself, but often dupes the consumer into paid subscription services that expire after the consumer grows to rely on them. Additionally, some Windows programs that just plain suck (surprise!). There […]
Two story home FAIL

The inaugural FAIL photo is that of a trailer home on cinder blocks and stilts that Lilly I found on the road to Edisto Beach, South Carolina. If you ever get the chance to visit Edisto Beach, avoid it at all costs because it’s lame as hell. Feel free to make your own FAIL comments […]

Below is a picture of the United States Marine Corps Service C (left) and A (right) uniforms. The Service C uniform, dubbed “Charlies” or “Chucks” is authorized for leave and liberty and is most commonly worn by drill instructors during the summer months for days such as Family Day, graduation, and Sundays and holidays. The 2009 Eastern Division Matches were a success. Half of the team (eight Marines) received medals with five of them returning for competition at Marine Corps Championships being held 6-24 April. Parris Island was the winningest team in Eastern Division. My awards included a silver medal in individual pistol as well as firing member of […]
Reenlistment

I reenlisted today, pushing my EAS out to 12 October 2013. That should give me plenty of time to get the hell off the drill field and over to Afghanistan before Obama pulls everyone out of there too. I used to believe anyone could become a Marine. But the fact of the matter is only […]

Me + motorcycle = badass (and damn near dead)

31 Jul 2008 | 16 Comments | Continue reading »
There’s a certain badassery that comes with owning a motorcycle . Think Peter Fonda in Easy Rider and Marlon Brando in The Wild One. All these years I’ve been pedaling my ass across the country I never fully understood my throttle twisting friends… until recently. In early June I purchased my very first motorcycle. It […]
Choosing the right HDTV

There’s an overweight, pimply kid at Best Buy who wants to sell you an HDTV. Moreover, he wants to talk to you about HDTVs, 7.1 Dolby surround sound systems, Klipsch home theater speakers, and probably his Star Wars collection if there’s time. He’s going to dazzle you with techno-babble, spouting such things as contrast ratio, […]

While waiting for my niece to register for the semester’s classes, I spotted this anti-smoking sign in the school cafeteria. Upon closer review, I realized the entire ad was adorned in miniature nut sacks! And not just any nut sacks, but musicians, artists, and sportsmen! Who in the hell is this campaign targeting?
Ringing UP the new year

Most people know I’m a cheap bastard. I’ll spend thirty-two hours driving cross-country and $450 on gas rather than a plane ticket for $555. I won’t Supersize for 49 cents more. Hell, I won’t even drink the beer not on special for the night if it’s gonna save me a few bucks. I’m a two-for-one food stamp kind of guy. An “Arab trader,” if you will. I milk every last possible penny out of everything I own, which really doesn’t explain why I buy and sell electronics like an eBay Power Seller (which reminds me, I’ve got a first generation 1GB iPod shuffle for sale at a deep, deep discount price). But Lake Tahoe is different.
